Living in Rio Grande Valley
The Rio Grande Valley is nestled in the southernmost tip of the Lone Star State. The Magic Valley is comprised of four counties: Starr County, Hidalgo County, Willacy County, and Cameron County. Like much of Texas, this area is overflowing with culture, heritage, and a beautiful landscape that entices land developers, people looking to relocate, and tourists.

The region sprawls along the Rio Grande River, which serves as the U.S. and Mexico border. The Valley's largest cities include Brownsville, McAllen, Harlingen, Mission, Edinburg, and Pharr. The area thrives through agribusiness; the region is the largest in the state for citrus and vegetable production. Grapefruit, orange, watermelon and tangerine crops account for over 70% of citrus production in the Rio Grande Valley, helping Texas remain the third largest producer of citrus fruits in the country. Other leading crops in the area include cotton, sorghum, and sugarcane.
The RGV also receives much of its revenue from its tourism industry. The region's location is a draw for tourists from both sides of the river. Many Americans head to the Valley to take short jaunts across the border to explore Mexican towns like Matamoros, Nuevo Progreso, Rio Bravo, and Reynosa. Popular attractions stateside include one of the top Spring Break destinations in the country, South Padre Island, and the Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, home to the World Birding Center Headquarters.
